A Faulty Software Update Causes Widespread Disruptions Worldwide
A faulty software update has caused chaos worldwide. Flights were canceled, hospitals had to postpone surgeries, and television broadcasters faced significant issues. Despite the far-reaching impacts, there are no indications of a cyberattack, as stated by a spokesperson from the Federal Ministry of the Interior. Instead, the cause appears to be a faulty update of an IT security system called „Falcon Sensor“ from the manufacturer Crowdstrike. Crowdstrike confirmed the error and has since resolved it. Customers were directed to download a new update from a download portal. Notably, China was hardly affected by these problems, fueling speculation about a possible cover-up of a cyberattack from China.
